Our Work
The Tower Project Moves Forward!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, the Tower Building & Wall Restoration Project is moving forward. It's been a busy summer of preparation for this endeavor, with key paperwork approved 9/16/25 by the Rye Town Park Commission and necessary permits and approvals in process with the City of Rye and other relevant agencies.
Here’s what’s in store:

-
Tower Building Restoration: We will power wash the Tower Building surface, repair the stucco, restore the eight exquisite quatrefoil “rosette” windows, as well as the window sills and upper columns—and apply a fresh exterior coating to bring back the building's original charm.
-
Left Tower Wall Revival: Our skilled craftsmen will rebuild the crumbling wall, replacing broken brick and damaged crown pieces and re-stuccoing the exterior, transforming it from its current neglected state to its original beauty.

This project builds on powerful momentum. Earlier this year, we surpassed our fundraising goals—raising over $450,000 thanks to a $200,000 matching pledge from the Sue and Edgar Wachenheim Foundation and your generous contributions.
As soon as all the necessary approvals are in place, we’ll begin work. Follow us on Instagram @friendsofryetownpark to watch our progress!
And we have so much more to do. We design, plant and maintain 20 gardens throughout the park and pay for other amenities like shower towers, water bottle stations and the daffodil hillside that blooms every April. The park has many needs that are not covered by its budget each year. Your generosity ensures that we can fulfill our mission to preserve and beautify this beautiful treasure on the Long Island Sound. Please donate today!

The rosette windows are an exquisite detail of the Tower Building. We see that shape repeated in the building’s entryway pillars, and on the dedication plaque which dates to the Building’s 1909 opening. We found one original rosette window hidden in the basement, and it is beautifully crafted. We can’t wait for our artisans to restore these windows and the entire building exterior to its original glory.

In 2024, we transformed the flagpole garden area, added Adirondack chairs and made it into a cozy seating area with beautiful views of Long Island Sound.

Another 2024 Success: Skilled artisans restored the building's six main doors and three leaded glass transom windows.
2025 Project: The Tower Building
The tower surface will be fully power washed, repaired and prepped. Window sills, upper column windows, and rosettes will be repaired before the proper exterior coating is applied.
