An article from MyRye.com

Sixty volunteers showed up this past Sunday, April 21st to clean up Oakland Beach at Rye Town Park in honor of Earth Day. Volunteers came from down the street and as far away as Greenwich, Stamford and White Plains. Groups including Rye Sustainability, the Girl Scouts and Daisies, a contingent from the German International School in White Plains and the cold plunger Bad Sisters group all lent their hands.

Park Director Russ Gold estimates 50 gallons of trash was removed from the beach which had washed up over the winter months. This included lots of smaller items including plastic straws, bottle caps, ribbons, candy wrappers, Styrofoam, vaping pens, cigarette butts, broken plastic toys and other materials.
